Pastor Adan visits Shiloh May 20th Meal and Fellowship at 6:00 pm

Friday, May 4th, 2012

clip_image002After too many years away, our friend Pastor Adan Villanuevo will be back at Shiloh for a visit. Pastor Adan has spent his lifetime in his native Honduras building congregations and churches throughout that country. He has been an untiring servant of our Lord Jesus Christ and an encourager of the Church here as well. We will be inviting many of his friends from the Louisville Area here to a meal and time of Fellowship on Sunday May 20 at 6pm. Quite a number of Oldham County believers have made the trip to San Pedro Sula, and the surrounding areas to help in the building of churches and to participate in the worship at Brother Adan’s Templo Betsaida. This is your chance to meet a brilliant, dedicated, humorous, loving man of God and hear how God is working among our Central American brothers and sisters.

Mark your Calendar now, bring the kids and friends
to enjoy a joyful and informative evening .
You will NOT be sorry!

Annual Conference Mission Offering June 5th

Saturday, June 4th, 2011

Our mission offering at Conference this year will go to plant a newimage church in Thailand and to support the education and development of new church planters in the country of Venezuela. Both of these nations have young, emerging Methodist churches. Our efforts in Thailand are through Kentucky Conference leaders, Mike and Sherri Morrissey. The work in Venezuela is in cooperation with the United Methodist Church of Venezuela and their Bishop, Juvenal Perez. In Thailand we will be actually providing support for the development of a specific congregation, helping to fund the pastor’s salary. Please prayerfully consider supporting this gospel-spreading mission during service on Sunday. You may also get your offering to Joe Taylor or Pastor Susan.

Holy Week Services

Palm Sunday Service
April 17th at 11:00 am

Come and celebrate the beginning of Holy Week as we receive palms in remembrance of Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem.
Our choir will be performing the Easter Cantata

“Jesus, The One and Only”.

This is a wonderful service to invite our friends and neighbors to as we encourage everyone to enter into Easter worship for the entire week and not just Easter morning.

Maundy Thursday Meal:

The Cups of Salvation

Thursday April 21st at 7:00pmimage

Everyone is invited to a meal in remembrance of Jesus’ last meal with his disciples. It will be a time of shared food in which we experience that  evening as a time when Jesus transformed the Passover Exodus from Egypt into an Exodus from the wilderness of brokenness for all of us.

Come and taste and see the goodness of God as it was lived out that night when Jesus came to dinner.

It’s Time for Fat Tuesday on Sunday!

Saturday, February 26th, 2011

So, you may ask, what’s Fat Tuesday and how can it bmardi-gras-first-sundaye on Sunday? Well, Fat Tuesday is the name traditionally given to the Tuesday before Ash Wednesday when families would gather to cook every luscious dish they could think of that used their butter and fat up before the beginning of Lent. That’s because Lent was then a time of fasting and simple food was the rule of the day.

These days, Fat Tuesday looks a lot more like a Mardi Gras party in many communities. In a mix of the two, everyone is invited to come to our Sunday March 6th  Fat Tuesday Potluck Lunch after service and enjoy great food( including some special New Orleans dishes) and King Cake (that’s the Mardi Gras part), along with our special guests "Covington Ridge" who will provide wonderful Southern gospel entertainment.

If you’d like ideas for food, just call or email Becky or if you’d like to bring your usual wonderful dishes, just go ahead.  We’ll provide the King Cake and drinks.

It’s Not Too Early to Plan Summer Camp!

Friday, February 11th, 2011

imageIf you do anything for your kids please send them to Loucon Camp or on a mission trip!  It is my one regret as a parent that I didn’t put more emphasis on these two activities for our kids.  Don’t ask me what happens when a young person is at Loucon or doing mission work.  All I know is that God has us right where He wants us during these times and miracles happen!  Give this gift to your child!

I will be counseling at Adventure 3 with Dean Gary Maguffee on June 26-July 1.  If your child is going into 5th or 6th grade they can attend this camp with me.  Camps run continuously from June thru July and there is a camp for everyone so check out the website and sign your child up!!  (www.loucon.org)  Let the other youth parents know which camp your child is attending so they can consider sending their child at the same time.  Always great to have someone to carpool with!  If your child is at camp on the same week that I am there I will see them for meals and around camp each day.

The cost of a week of camp is right around $200. We will be using some of our Youth monies to help parents defray some of the costs.  If you have questions give me a call or corner me any Sunday or Wednesday at Youth.
