Caroling

December 1st, 2008

On Sunday, Dec 21st, we are all gathering to take Christmas to our church members and friends who are homebound.  We’ll carpool from the Church at 4:00 pm to make our driving easier and look forward to taking all ages to go and sing and visit.  This is not about music;  this is about God’s love that can laugh, give hugs, show we care and then, last of all, sing.  Let Kathy Morse know if there’s someone you want us to stop by and see.

THANKSGIVING SERVICE & LUNCHEON NOVEMBER 23rd

Monday, November 10th, 2008

You won’t want to miss a time of thanksgiving for all god’s Good Gifts we have received this year as we celebrate the Thanksgiving season at Shiloh.  Service at 11 will be a time of Special music and sharing about God’s goodness to us all.  Afterwards, there’s a wonderful thanksgiving meal for all to share.
This is a wonderful time to invite visiting family, friends and neighbors to join us.

DVD Study Continues

Sunday, July 27th, 2008

The H20 video series continues on Tuesday nights at 7 PM.  No preparation is needed; each video stands on its own. We are a congenial group, and, of course, we always have light refreshments.  Come join us!
PS This group will not meet on the 19th.

It’s Crayon time Again…

Sunday, July 27th, 2008

And scissors, and paper and glue and…
This is your chance to return to the aisles of colorful crayons and glue sticks.  This is your chance to make the first day of school for a child a pleasure, not an embarrassment.  This is your chance to support our Hispanic neighbors without struggling through a word of Spanish.

What: ‘adopt’ a child and provide supplies for their first day of school

How: take a tag from our display at church, with the supply list we’ll give you, and make a trip to Target, or Wal-Mart, or some office supply store

How (alternative): take a ‘shopper’ tag at church, give that person the money needed for that child and your personal shopper will do the rest

When: we need the supplies back, in a bag, tagged with the child’s name, by Sunday, August 10th

Why: The rabbis call it the 11th commandment from God:  “You do too know what I mean.”  So, remember that we, too, were strangers in Egypt and we, too, were told by Jesus to care for the hungry, the thirsty, the poor.  And crayons are fun to buy and a happy child is always a good thing.

Freedom Sunday Celebration

Saturday, June 28th, 2008

We will be having our annual Freedom Sunday Celebration and picnic lunch following worship on July 6th.  Come in patriotic garb and bring someone with you.  The meal will be catered so you don’t have to bring anything but yourself and a friend.  The menu for the meal is fried chicken, ham, cole slaw, green beans, squash or corn, German potato salad, mixed fruit, banana pudding, and black berry cobler.  WOW!
