Caroling

December 1st, 2008

On Sunday, Dec 21st, we are all gathering to take Christmas to our church members and friends who are homebound.  We’ll carpool from the Church at 4:00 pm to make our driving easier and look forward to taking all ages to go and sing and visit.  This is not about music;  this is about God’s love that can laugh, give hugs, show we care and then, last of all, sing.  Let Kathy Morse know if there’s someone you want us to stop by and see.

KENTUCKY UNITED METHODIST HOMES, VERSAILLES, KY

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 13

The Kentucky United Methodist Homes for Children and Youth will host its Annual Day Celebration, Auction and barbeque lunch, Saturday, September 13th in Versailles, Ky. Keynote speaker, new Kentucky and Red Bird Conference Bishop, Lindsey Davis, will speak during the program beginning at 10:30 a.m. The event includes a program celebrating the children and awards to dedicated volunteers and supporters.

After the lunch there will be silent and live auctions with crafts, sports memorabilia and quilts. These are always exciting.

The needs of the children are shown on the web page www.kyumh.org. And if you want to support by giving items, the Jenkins will be making the trip and can take them on September 13. They also will have four seats available for someone who wishes to go and needs a ride. Call and reserve.

Cleaning Your Closet?

Saturday, June 28th, 2008

Ooops…Missed the yard sale? If you still have spring/end-of-school/ summer clean out to do, listen up! Our friends at Breath of Life UMC in Shively have a ministry providing gently-used clothing for children in need. So if you have some baby to teenage clothing you would like to put to good use, give me a call. I’ll pick it up and get it to Breath of Life for distribution.
THANKS to those who sent bags last month! The day before I delivered them there had been a request from a family from Europe who needed things for teen-age girls. The Church was able to call them and immediately put the clothes to good use. So if this fits your situation, give a call and help a family in need.

Prayer Chain

Saturday, June 28th, 2008

It’s time to refresh the Prayer Chain. If you would like to be called to pray for specific requests, and/or would like to have a very short list of names to call on the chain, please see Carolyn Wade. On occasion this chain is also used to distribute information in a timely manner. Likewise, if you are already involved, and would like to be removed, please let Carolyn know.

Farewell

Farewell and Hello
It is with regret that we say good-by to Pastor Gary and Bev this month, as they move to Epworth UMC.  We will have a small reception on June 15 after worship, with sandwiches, cake and beverages.

And it is with anticipation that we say hello to Pastor Susan Jinnett-Sack and her family on June 29. We will have a time of fellowship that day, as well, with sandwiches, cake and beverages. Please come and welcome Pastor Susan, Katy, Lexie, and Will.

Yard Sale

Saturday, April 12th, 2008

The Ministries Council is sponsoring a yard sale on May 17, 8 AM-1PM to support our missions outreach. Tables are available for rent with 2 options: $5 and 10% of your proceeds, or $10 flat fee. If you just want to donate goods to be sold, they can be left in the back downstairs classroom in the education building. We will need volunteers on Friday, May 16 at 4PM to do pricing. And we need volunteers on Saturday morning as early as 7 AM to carry things out and set up. And don’t neglect to come out and shop! (PS A clean-up crew will be needed at 1). We can’t succeed without YOU!
