Caroling

December 1st, 2008

On Sunday, Dec 21st, we are all gathering to take Christmas to our church members and friends who are homebound.  We’ll carpool from the Church at 4:00 pm to make our driving easier and look forward to taking all ages to go and sing and visit.  This is not about music;  this is about God’s love that can laugh, give hugs, show we care and then, last of all, sing.  Let Kathy Morse know if there’s someone you want us to stop by and see.

Blue Christmas - A Service of Light in the Midst of Darkness

Monday, December 1st, 2008

Sunday, December 14, 6:00 p.m.
For many of us, Christmas is a bittersweet time of year. It is a time for remembering both persons and events that have been a part of our lives in the past, but that are now changed or gone. This is the time of year with the longest nights, so around this time we offer a quiet, meditative worship service that makes time for remembering, sharing our hurting places with God, and preparing our hearts for the coming of Christ. Join us on Sunday, December 14, at 6:00 pm, for a time of special music, scripture, stories, silent reflection and healing prayer. Please come and offer to accompany someone for whom rejoicing is just hard work this year. Please call Pastor Susan if you have any questions about this service or if you would like her to invite someone.

Candlelight Christmas Eve Service

Monday, December 1st, 2008

Wednesday Dec 24 at 8:00 pm

Voices softly singing Silent Night…faces lit by candlelight. It’s Christmas Eve Service and the time when we truly celebrate the birth of Jesus in Bethlehem.  If this service isn’t part of your Christmas celebrations, please put it on your calendar.  If it is, then invite a neighbor or friend from work to come with you.  This is a service of readings and special music, when we re-tell the Christmas story and feel again the wonder of God’s love for us.

More people to share the love of Christ with our youngest worshippers.

Children ages 6 and under leave our worship service each Sunday after the Children’s Message. They need you to lead them in a brief age-appropriate lesson (provided) that goes along with Pastor Susan’s sermon. This takes less than 45 minutes once every 4 to 6 weeks.

If this sounds like a way you would like to serve at Shiloh, please call Joy Abe.
